Prof . John Lonyang'apuo

Prof. John Lonyang'apuo is a distinguished Kenyan leader whose career spans mathematics education, public administration, county governance, and community development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics from Egerton University and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Before joining public service, he served as a lecturer at Egerton University, where he contributed to teaching, research, and academic excellence.

Prof. Lonyang'apuo has served in several senior leadership positions in government, demonstrating exceptional expertise in public administration and strategic governance. He was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industrialization from 2008 to 2010, Senator for West Pokot County from 2013 to 2017, and Governor of West Pokot County from 2017 to 2022. During his tenure in public office, he championed transformative initiatives in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, water services, economic empowerment, and institutional strengthening, leaving a lasting impact on the people of West Pokot and Kenya at large. He currently serves as the Board Chair of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, where he provides strategic oversight, promotes sound corporate governance, and supports sustainable water and sanitation development across the region.
